If you’re ready to get started and invest in yourself but you have some questions, you are in the right place.
How do I get started?
First, schedule a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation.
Once you schedule your consultation, I will send you a brief questionnaire to complete before we chat.
It is important for me to get a better understanding of what brings you to therapy and answer any and all questions you might have.
We will talk briefly about what is bringing you in for counseling and answer any questions that you may have.
By the end of our call we both should know if we are a good therapeutic match, it is important that we both walk away feeling like therapy is going to help you reach your goals. If we decide we are a good fit, we will schedule your first appointment over the phone and then I will send you an email with a link to sign up for your own personalized client portal.
What is the online client portal? And what do I need to do before our first appointment?
You will have your own personalized client portal where you will be able to schedule your appointments 24/7. You will have access to secure messaging with me in between sessions, and billing documents. All of the intake documents that you need to complete before your first session will be sent through your client portal, this saves us time and trees.
During your first appointment
We will talk more in-depth about what brings you to therapy, why now? We will discuss your goals, so we know what road is the best one to take to get you to where you want to be. I will also ask you a bunch of questions to help me understand what makes you. When I am sitting in session, I think of it like I am weaving a big tapestry and am looking for the right colors to use and where there might be holes. As therapy goes on it is important to re-assess your goals to see how you are progressing and see if there have been things that come up that you would like to focus more on.
Before, during and after our session
Let’s not kid ourselves, going to therapy is at times scary and hard. It is my hope that if you are feeling this way, we can talk about it. I get it I still get a little anxious sitting in my own therapist’s office. I have thoughts on the drive to her office like “what are we going to talk about” “If I tell her what I am doing, or thinking is she going to react in a way that is going to make me feel judged?” “Am I going to cry and have to pull myself together before going back to work”. All of these things are normal to think and feel but what I have learned I’m my own process and my process with others is it is important to show up to session even if you are a smidge anxious.
How would you describe what it is like being the therapy with you?
My clients describe me as a warm, intuitive, straightforward therapist. My clients appreciate my directness and interactive therapy style. My clients also know that I understand that you did not come to therapy because you need a solution in a few weeks. You need something concrete that will help alleviate whatever is going on TODAY and my clients usually end up leaving their first session with way more clarity than when they came in.
